Why are there watermarks on the photos?

 I've received several emails asking why I watermark photos. I didn't watermark the photos for the first several years because I wanted to freely share what I found with other Eric Carr fans. But eventually KISS and Eric Carr other sites started to copy photos from this site into their sites without telling the fans where they found the photo.

I spend about 6 to 8 hours every week working on the site, looking for, and in many cases, purchasing rare photos and magzines. I've spent well over $5,000 on the site and its contents since 2001.

Other sites, such as All Hail the Fox, simply copy photos from this site, remove the watermark and put them on their own site. That particular site admits to doing this to photos from this site and laughing about it.

This is wrong.

I try to give credit to all my source material. I believe that the hard work and dedication to building a good site should be rewarded with at least an acknowledgement. I'll gladly stop watermarking when other Eric Carr sites start being honest and respectful about their source material.

Over the years many sites dedicated to Eric have closed down and photos and information are becoming harder to find and share. For fans, that means that inforamtion and new photos are very rare and will continue to become harder to find.

It's a shame that a few rotten apples spoil something for everyone else.
