Ain't None of your Business
|

Ain't here to tell, so get a grip
I ain't really what you think
I ain't guilty or innocent
Don't play a fool, don't turn your back
You ask me why, well listen Jack
You'd better practice what you preach
'Cause there ain't nothing you can teach me
Won't wear a target on my back
I won't stand for no third degree
I don't care what you think of me
I'll do as I like
I'll do as I please
Don't ask me why
They go to church, they go to school
Ain't none of your business
But I ain't nobody's fool
Ain't none of your business
Make a right, make a wrong
Ain't none of your business
Or I may sing a different song
Ain't none of your business
Don't try to label who I am
It's one thing you'll never understand
Just keep your thoughts to yourself
Don't play a fool, don't turn your back
You ask me why, well listen Jack
I'll do as I like
I'll do as I please
Don't ask me why
Bite off more than I can chew
Ain't none of your business
Don't tell me what to do
Ain't none of your business
They go to church, they go to school
Ain't none of your business
But I ain't nobody's fool
Ain't none of your business
They rule the world, they sell it whole
Ain't none of your business
They socialize, they live a lie
Ain't none of your business
Ain't none of your business

Ain't That Peculiar
|
Since Eric was not a strong lyric writer, he borrowed the words for his Little Caesar demo from Marvin Gaye. Unfortunately for KISS, they were not aware of that, and have infringed on copyright material when they issued the demo as written solely by Eric in the KISS box set. |
Original words and music by William "Smokey" Robinson, Marvin Tarplin, Robert Rogers and Warren Moore.
Originally recorded by Marvin Gaye.
This version set to music written by Eric Carr. Eric Carr lead vocals.

Honey you do me wrong but still I'm crazy about you
Stay away too long and I can't do without you
Every chance you get you seem to hurt me more and more
But each hurt makes my love stronger than before
I know flowers go through rain
But how can love go through pain
Ain't that peculiar
Peculiar as can be
Ain't that peculiar
That's what it is to me, hey!
You tell me lies that should be obvious to me
but there is so much lovin to see
But the things you do and say are designed to make me blue
It's a dog gone shame my love for you makes all
Your lies seem true
But if the truth makes love last longer
Why do lies make my love stronger
Ain't that peculiar
Peculiar as can be
Ain't that peculiar
That's what it is to me
Hey, yeah
Hey, yeah
Hey, hey
Hey, yeah
Hey, yeah
Hey, hey
Hey, yeah
If hurt can last for years
How can love last through tears
Ain't that peculiar
Peculiar as can be
Ain't that peculiar
That's what it is to me
Ain't that peculiar
Oh, yeah, that's what it is
Ain't that peculiar
Oh c'mon
Yeah, yeah!

All Hell's Breakin' Loose
|
This song, and "Love theme from KISS" (from KISS' debut album) are the only two songs written by all four members of the current KISS lineup. Eric wrote the music, while the other three members wrote the words.

Street hustler comes up to me one day
And I'm walkin' down the street minding my own business
And he looks me up and he looks me down
And he says, "Hey man, what be this?" and "What be that?"
I just looked at him and kinda laughed
And said, "Hey man, I am cool; I am the breeze."
Haven't you heard there's a new revolution
Gotta spread the word too much confusion
All hell's breakin' loose
Hey, hey have you read the news?
All hell's breakin' loose
Overloading and blowin' my fuse
All hell's breakin' lose
Day and night, baby, night and day
All hell's breakin' loose
In the streets there's a brand new way, yeah
Now we ain't always winners
But this is the life we choose and we won't change or rearrange
And we ain't never, ever gonna lose
It ain't always easy when the goin' gets tough
When you're getting even
You gotta show your stuff
Tell about it now
Take a look around only one solution
Set the world on fire, fight the institution
Gonna stand our ground, feel the new sensation
Something's goin' down, rock the nation
All hell's breakin' loose
Hey, hey have you read the news?
All hell's breakin' loose
Overloading and blowin' my fuse
All hell's breakin' lose
Day and night, baby, night and day
All hell's breakin' loose
Haven't you heard? Only one solution
Gotta spread the word, tell it to the people right now
Take a look around, feel the new sensation
Set the world on fire, rock the nation
All hell's breakin' loose
All hell's breakin' loose
All hell's breakin' loose
All hell's breakin' loose
Baby, baby, baby, whoa
All hell's breakin' loose
Hey, hey have you read the news?
All Hell's breakin' loose
Overloading and blowin' my fuse
All hell's breakin' loose
Day and night, baby, night and day
All hell's breakin' loose
In the streets you can hear them say

Originally recorded by KISS with Peter Criss on vocals in 1976, Eric re-recorded the lead vocal track for KISS' 1988 album Smashes, Thrashes and Hits. He was unaware the Paul and Gene had failed to tell Peter that Eric was singing his song. Peter was not happy, and Eric was unhappy about Peter not being told. Nevertheless, Eric's fans were treated to a beautiful rendition of an all time classic. Eric did not sing this song in concert.

Beth I hear you calling
But I can't come home right now
Me and the boys are playin'
And we just can't find the sound
Just a few more hours
And I'll be right home to you
I think I hear them calling
Oh Beth what can I do?
Beth what can I do?
You say you feel so empty
That our house just ain't a home
I'm always somewhere else
And you're always there alone
Just a few more hours
And I'll be right home to you
I think I hear them callin'
Oh Beth what can I do?
Beth what can I do?
Beth, I know you're lonely
And I hope you'll be all right
'Cause me and the will be playin' all night

While originally sung by Peter Criss, Eric inheritted the song when he joined KISS in 1980. Eric sung it for his audition with KISS and during every KISS tour.

Out on the street for a living
Pictures' only begun
Got you under their thumb
Hit it!
Out on the streets for a living
Pictures' only begun
Your day is sorrow and madness
Got you under their thumb
Oo, Black Diamond!
Oo, Black Diamond!
Darkness will fall on the city
It seems to follow you too
And though you don't ask for pity
There's nothin' that you can do
Oo, Black Diamond!
Oo, Black Diamond!
Out on the streets for a living
Pictures' only begun
Your day is sorrow and madness
Got you under their thumb
Oo, Black Diamond!
Oh yeah
Oo, Black Diamond!

Originally writen for "The Elder" release, Ace and Richie Scarlet wrote the lyrics to this five years later. The music appeared on the KISS release "Revenge" as "Carr Jam '81" as a tribute to Eric.

Been in this cell block seven years too long
Payin' for a crime when I didn't do anything wrong
Lyin' here rottin' for someone else's mistake
I've come to my senses, it's time to make a break
Breakout, I'm comin' after you
Breakout, I say our love is overdue
Breakout, I'm at the breaking point
Breakout, gonna bust out of this joint
I'm sick and tired of punching out license plates
For a criminal justice system that I hate
The food here sucks, I'm not about to wait
Well, I've some to my senses, it's time to make a break
Breakout, I'm comin' after you
Breakout, I say our love is overdue
Breakout, I'm at the breaking point
Breakout, gonna bust out of this joint

Never knew a love like this
Never knew a sweeter kiss
Never knew that look that's in your eyes
Baby I can hardly wait
Now we're in the hands of fate
This is a love that we can't disguise
I can't be dreaming
My mind is teeming
To think of heave we'll explore
I try pretending
Tonight's not ending
It only makes me want you more
Can you feel it?
How I want to love you
Can you feel it?
Oh, oh, oh
Can you feel it?
How I'm thinking of you
Can you feel it?
Girl, if we can talk all night
Maybe I'll explain this right
But I know words are not enough
I want to show to you
That every word is true
You know the proof is in my love
I can't be dreaming
My mind is teeming
To think of heave we'll explore
I try pretending
Tonight's not ending
It only makes me want you more
Can you feel it?
How I want to love you
Can you feel it?
Oh, oh, oh
Can you feel it?
How I'm thinking of you
Can you feel it?
Can this be perfect love
It sure feels strong enough
Girl what I feel inside
Is lighting up my world tonight
Can you feel it?
How I want to love you
Can you feel it?
Oh, oh, oh
Can you feel it?
How I'm thinking of you
Can you feel it?

Dear Friend
|
Dear Friend appears on Union's "Blue Room" release. The song was written and sung by Bruce Kulick in remembance of his dear friend Eric Carr. |

Dear friend the day you left me
I don't why
And your life was way too precious
You touched the sky
Dear friend I know you'll hear me
If I close my eyes
And when I dream about you
I will always be alive (be alive)
And if I feel you near me
I will realize (realize)
You'll answer all the questions
From the other side
Lay hands on...lay hands on...lay hands on me
If you want...if you need...you can lay your hands on me
If you want...if you need...you can keep your faith in me
We saw the world together
Traveled many miles
And you left the stage with laughter
I'll always be alive (be alive)
And if I hear your thunder
I will realize (realize)
The voices make me wonder
In the story of your life
So much bigger than the fight
Lay hands on...lay hands on...lay hands on me
If you want...if you need...you can lay your hands on me
If you want...if you need...you can keep your faith in me

Don't Leave Me Lonely
|
Originally written for the "Creatures of the Night" release, however it wasn't included because it "didn't have the right feel."

I won't stand bein' broken hearted
I won't be pushed around
The rules were set when we got started
But lately I have found
We've spent too little time and too much heartache
I feel we're losin' ground
And lately I've been hearin'
You won't be needin' me around
Don't leave me lonely
Just wanna be right by your side
Your one and only - tonight
So don't leave me lonely
I need you here all the time
So don't leave me lonely - oh no
You say you need your independence
Well I need mine
Separate lives and separate feelings
I guess that's fine
But that won't last - it's no solution
I know it can't survive
And lately I've been thinkin'
Thinkin' 'bout you all the time
Don't leave me lonely
Just wanna be right by your side
Your one and only - tonight
So don't leave me lonely
I need you here all the time
So don't leave me lonely - oh no

Just like the elephant man
Nothing's changed inside
People don't seem the same
They smile with fear in their eyes
And the one true love
Shines through with the brilliance
Of a million suns
Aching with despair
Of things she cannot change
But seeing the pain he has
Just like the elephant man
Banished from the kingdom
By the evil king
And his not so secret queen
He sees the truth in the mirror
And feels the strength in his heart
Friends are there to hold him up
But only he can stop his fall
Just like the elephant man
Written by Eric Carr in 1991
It was written for KISS' 1992 release Revenge.
Music was not written for it and it was never recorded
Here's Eric's original hand written lyrics to Elephant Man

Oh yeah …
Does it cut like a knife?
Heard it all before
Ain't nobody's fool
In the heat of the night
Just gotta know the score
Hungry on the outside
Burning on the inside
Don't let me beg for more … yeah
Can't feel the sting
Can't feel the bite
Don't give a damn
When lightning strikes
You know you can't see a thing
When you're looking through the eyes of love
Tell me once again now
Can't see a thing when you're looking through the eyes of love
Did you put up a fight?
Had it all figured out
Always thought you had be tough
Being tough ain't enough
Take this heart of stone
Make it bleed tonight … yeah
Are you ready for love?
Ready for the real thing
Got fire running though my blood
Don't give a damn if it's wrong or right
Don't make me wait all night
Can't rub it out
Can't have it all
Heart on a string
Back to the wall
Can't fee the sting
Can't feel the bite
Don't give a damn
When lightning strikes
You know you can't see a thing
When you're looking through the eyes of love
Tell me once again now
Can't feel a thing when you're looking through the eyes of love

God Gave Rock 'n' Roll to You II
|
You may be wondering why I've included this song. Eric didn't write the music or the words ... he didn't even play drums on it (except for in the video). However, this was Eric's last recording session. His distinct vocal ability can be heard in the refrain (he sung the parts in brackets). If you have a copy of KISS Alive III, listen to this song. You can clearly hear that KISS either used a recording of Eric's vocals live, or they were overdubbed in the studio to make the song sound fuller. It would be eight long years before Eric's fans would hear from Eric again ... on Rockology

God gave rock and roll to you
Gave rock and roll to you
Put it in the soul of everyone
Do you know what you want
You don't know for sure
You don't feel right, you can't find a cure
And you're gettin' less than what you're lookin' for
You don't have money
Or a fancy car
And you're tired of wishin' on a falling star
You gotta put your faith in a loud guitar
God gave rock and roll to you
Gave rock and roll to you
Gave rock and roll to everyone
God gave rock and roll to you
Gave rock and roll to you
Put it in the soul of everyone
Now listen
If you wanna be a singer
Or play guitar
Man, you gotta sweat or you won't get far
'Cause it's never too late to work nine to five
You can take a stand
Or you can compromise
You can work real hard or just fantasize
But you don't start livin' till you realize
I gotta tell ya
God gave rock and roll to you
Gave rock and roll to you
Gave rock and roll to everyone
God gave rock and roll to you
Gave rock and roll to you
Put it in your soul
God gave rock and roll to you
(To everyone he gave the song to be sung)
Gave rock and roll to you
Gave rock and roll to everyone
God gave rock and roll to you
(To everyone he gave the song to be sung)
Gave rock and roll to you
Saved rock and roll for everyone
Saved rock and roll
God gave rock and roll to you
Gave rock and roll to you
Gave rock and roll to everyone
God gave rock and roll to you
Gave rock and roll to you
Put it in the soul of everyone
God gave rock and roll to you
Gave rock and roll to you
Gave rock and roll to everyone...
I know life sometimes can get tough
And I know life sometimes can be a drag
But people, we have been given a gift
We have been given a road
And that road's name is Rock and Roll

Ten million stories in the city
Ten million backs against the wall
Desperation's out tonight
You can cut it with a knife
Everybody wants to have it all
Well they tell you that the world is rough
But they never rocked it hard enough
Hey, little Caesar
Nobody messing with you
Hey, little Caesar
Go show 'em what you can do
Nobody said that it was pretty, no no
You haven't got a penny or a prayer
You know it's gonna be a fight
If you wanna see your name in lights
Ain't nobody gives a damn out there
Well you got your guts and you got your pride
You'll never let them see inside
Hey, little Caesar
Nobody messing with you
Hey, little Caesar
Go show 'em what you can do
Let them show 'em what you can do
Well you don't believe in the books and rules
'Cause you just believe what you know is cool
Well they try to tell you that the world is rough
But they never rocked it hard enough
I can't hear you, oh yeah!
Well, they just don't understand
You gotta fight to be a man
Hey, little Caesar
Nobody messing with yo
Hey, little Caesar
Go show 'em what you can do
Hey, little Caesar
Oh yeah, that's what it is
Hey, little Caesar
Yeah, come on, oh yeah
Hey, little Caesar
Now show 'em, yeah

Here comes trouble
Trouble with a capital "T"
"T" is for tough, we're ready and rough
TNT that's a nasty
Tonight I'm going to have a good time, baby
All night long
I know your parents think that we're all crazy
I'm not so sure they're wrong
Nasty boys
You run away, well, we'll play with your toys
Nasty boys
You know that boys will be nasty boys
Nasty boys
Riding around in a red Rolls-Royce
Nasty boys
Nasty!
Got a head full of rocks
Tonight some heads are going to roll
We're a runaway train, a jet airplane
A locomotive out of control
We'll be having a party in the back room
Nasty boys
Oh yes!
We'll be standing in the back of the classroom
Making all that noise
Nasty boys
You run away, well, we'll play with your toys
Nasty boys
You know that boys will be nasty boys
Nasty boys
No doubt about it, we're the king of noise
Nasty boys
Nasty!
All right!
Nasty boys
You run away, well, we'll play with your toys
Nasty boys
You know that boys will be nasty boys
Nasty boys
Riding around in a red Rolls-Royce
Nasty boys
We're Nasty!

Hey
I'm down and out, but don't count me out
Listen here babe, gonna show you what it's all about
It's time for love and you're welcom to it
It's a dirty job but somebody's gotta do it
So here I am, do you want me now
Just show me where and I'll show you how
I wanna know
No, no, no, no
Don't say you won't if you will
No, no, no, no
Don't say yo've had your thrill
No, no, no, no
Don't say you can't 'cause you can
No, no, no, no
Baby don't say no, no, no
What's mine is mine and yours is mine
Baby just sign on the dotted line
You've got nine lives like an alley cat
Just stick with me and I'll show you where it's at

No, no, no, no
Baby don't say no, no, no
Just when you thought it was s-s-safe
Gonna show you where, gonna show you how
Don't stop me know, got my foot in the door
No, no, no, no
Don't say you won't if you will
No, no, no, no
Don't say yo've had your thrill

This beautiful song lost out to "Forever" as the token ballad on the 1989 release, "Hot in the Shade."

Returning the memories tonight
To the time you were mine
Still burning holding on tight
One heartbeat at a time … whoa I
Let your hair down
Without your love is living a lie
But now I know we'll have it all tonight
Somebody's waiting
Somebody's waiting for you
Somebody's waiting for your love
Someone to hold you
Somebody's burning for you
Someone to know you
Won't you let me show you?
We hold to love for all of our lives
And lonely fools, they never survive
When it's all too much for you to go on
Just turn to me, I'll be strong
You can believe in love, you can trust my heart
Two nights forever hold on to tomorrow
Somebody's waiting
Somebody's waiting for you
Somebody's waiting for your love
Someone to hold you
Somebody's burning for you
Someone to know you
Won't you let me show you?

See her standing by the window
Smiling at me I know that she cares
In my mind I'm beside her
Fingers stroking her hair
Not tonight, not tomorrow
I want you now to be here by my side
All my questions you answer
When you're there with your arms open wide
Oh Tiara
Girl I love you
You and me, we could conquer the world
Oh Tiara
Have I told you
I'm in love with the child in you girl
Love, it shines like a diamond
Brighter than all the moon and the stars
Where it leads, we will follow
Love will guide us wherever we are
Oh Tiara
Girl I love you
You and me, we could conquer the world
Oh Tiara
Have I told you
I'm in love with the child in you girl
We can make every night last forever
Holding hands, beating hearts together
You're more precious than life to me girl
Oh Tiara
You and me, we could conquer the world
Oh Tiara
I'm in love with the child in you girl
Oh Tiara
Girl I love you
You and me, we could conquer the world

Hey guy, you still thinking about that girl?
Yeah, so what?
Man, she doesn't even know you're alive!
Come on man, don't say that!
She's got a VCR
She's got a brand new car
She's like a picture in a magazine
She's the cutest girl this boy's ever seen
She makes me want to hang from the ceiling
My skateboard up and own the hall
I gotta know
That I love her so
She's the one for me
I want her more than my MTV
She's much too cool for school
Too cool
She's got some nerve and she's nobody's fool
She's much too cool for school
Will she meet me at the swimming pool?
No way!
Aw!
The way she carries her books
With those drop dead looks
I think I'm gonna lose my mind
You know I might be crazy
But I'm not blind
I only want to talk for a minute
But she never seems to have the time
I asked her for a date
I wouldn't keep her late
We didn't get too far
She let me down and drove away in my car
She's much too cool for school
Too cool
She's got some nerve and she's nobody's fool
She's much too cool for school
I waited all day at the hard Rock Café
Much too cool for school
Too cool
I said hello but she scratched me with her fingernails
Much too cool for school
Would she care to share a hot dog
No way!

Lookin' for a thrill
You'll get it my way
Let's hit the highway
I'll take you down
Shoot out in the night
Lookin' for action
The main attraction
Is back in town
Press the pedal to the metal
On your mark, set, go...
Under the gun
Do your living on the trigger
Under the gun
Walk on the wire
Under the gun
When the stakes are gettin' bigger
Under the gun
Take aim and fire
I don't need a reason to get crazy
I'm gettin' crazy
And that's enough
Show me somethin' strange
I'll make it stranger
I swear that danger
Runs in my blood
Press the pedal to the metal
On your mark, set, go...
When the dust begins to settle
Everybody's gonna know
Under the gun
Do your living on the trigger
Under the gun
Walk on the wire
Under the gun
When the stakes are gettin' bigger
Under the gun
Take aim and fire, fire, fire, fire, fire
Yeah, there's no speed limit where I am coming from
Let's hit the highway doin' 69
Press the pedal to the metal
On your mark, set, go...
When the dust begins to settle
Everybody's gonna know
Under the gun
Do your living on the trigger
Under the gun
Walk on the wire
Under the gun
When the stakes are gettin' bigger
Under the gun
Take aim and fire
Under the gun
Under the gun
Under the gun
Under the gun
Come on boys, fire

Though you may be pure of heart and free of sin
And though you have been chosen to begin
And yet you must be worthy of the prophecy
But seek and you shall find your destiny
Loneliness will haunt you
Will you sacrifice?
Do you take the oath
Will you give your life
Under the rose?
The more you hurt the less you feel the pain
And the more you change the more you stay the same
But now before you lies the quest at hand
And from this boy you may become a man
Though you understand
Will you sacrifice?
Do you take the oath
Will you give your life
Under the rose?
Loneliness will haunt you
Will you sacrifice?
Do you take the oath
Will you give your life
Under the rose?
